Another brother slain…
January 8th, 2009How long will will allow cold blooded murder to continue to hide behind the badge of a cop. In the course of protecting and serving we have yet another senseless murder of an unarmed black man, in a public place in plain site.
Unfortunately this is no noting new to this nation founded on the idea of slaughtering in the name of progress.
What’s left to say? How do we continue to apply the same tactics of protest and marches to a situation that continues to kill any sense of hope.
I get sick just thinking about my son, and him growing up with a target on his back. Him having to look over his shoulder whenever he sees flashing lights. Cause for me, I’ve learned to deal with the anxiety that comes along with being black in America - and they wonder why we have so many stress related illnesses.
This issue is bigger than cop and brothers, on some level we have got to realize how much of our personal power we have turned over to a system that does not work for our benefit. How do we begin to gain control over our own communities and create an atmosphere where this is not just protested. It is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated.
Accident or not, this is murder and in this case the cops should be treated just as any other person presumed guilty of murder. The police are not 007, they don’t have a license to kill.
I had to write this because there is just too much death in the air to begin 2009.
